INTERNSHIPS

Come Intern with Us
When you intern with Grow Ohio Valley, you’ll get excellent hands-on experience working to instigate a local food economy in our community! Our programs are multi-faceted and offer rich learning experiences, from working on a small organic farm with youth to develop gardening and health literacy, or operating a mobile farmers market in food deserts.
Hard work, face-to-face in the community, and hands-in-the-dirt experience are direct pathways to personal growth.  Our aim is to equip you with the skills necessary to initiate community-based food and health initiatives, while increasing your own self-reliance. Our internships will be hard work, and we will depend on your good work and dedication to meet our various program goals.

Job Description
We will be depending on you to complete assigned work activities, while being involved in all aspects of local food production and sales, including:

  • Work at rural and urban farm sites, including seeding, transplanting, weeding, thinning, and harvesting. Rain or shine!
  • Work at urban greenhouses, seeding, transplanting, watering, trellising and pest control.
  • Prepare inventory for sales, including washing, sorting, and tracking inventory.
  • Help with distribution and sales, fulfil restaurant orders, prepare and distribute CSA baskets, make sales at farmers markets, set up farm stand.
  • Care for animals, let chickens out for feeding at sunrise, collect eggs and put chickens in at sun down, assisting with beekeeping.
  • Assist with data tracking and reporting
